Last winter was all about the hoody, and UK brand Artful Dodger had the game zipped up. Thursday November 8, it was announced that Jay-Z in partnership with Iconix Brand Group Inc purchased the high-end street brand for $15 million cash.

"Artful Dodger is an incredible brand with a lot of room for growth and Scott Langton is a visionary designer," explains Hov. "They represent what's next and new in fashion and we are glad to have both the brand and Scott as a part of our family. Artful Dodger represents the first of many acquisitions that will begin to shape our joint venture with Iconix."

Channeling his inner alien from outerspace, Big Boi, clad head-to-toe in Crooks & Castles, recently hosted his Big Kidz Foundation's charity gala at David Yurman in Lenox Square.

On November 27, Sir Lucious Leftfoot is teaming up with Laced Up sneaker boutique to unveil the Nike Air Force 1 "Solitaire Kicks." The white and aqua patent leather sneakers are dipped in eight karats worth of rare champagne diamonds from India and are valued at $50,000.

I just hope these aren't conflict kicks.

Out with the leggings and in with the tights. Yes, it's time to retire those leggings that you have desperately made stretch through 4 seasons and pick up a pair of tights. In case you don't remember, in this seasons fall runway shows tights were pretty prominent. Tights were everywhere from your basic blacks of Burberry Prorsum, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Catherine Malandrino to your metallics and more colorful looks: red, orange, green, pale blue, and brown. Of course the bolder more interesting tights will be those thick, mod-inspired opaque or woven and textured tights from the early 90's.

Now to some of us, this fixation with tights is old news. Tights have been around for decades and many celeb stylists have been putting their clients in them. Karla Welch, Nylon Magazine and celebrity stylist admits that "they're such an easy trend to get in on because they make your legs look so incredible. You're going to look much thinner. I've always put my clients in them." One of Karla's clients, Indie singer Feist, "always performs in matching tights" and I think we all love Feist's style.

So there you have it. That's my skinny on tights. Also, on those warmer days don't forget that hose can be worn. I just picked up a few tights from Target the other day to add to my growing collection so now its your turn. Pick your tights today!

Just though it would be great to let everyone who, don’t already know (b/c u all should), about one of the hottest cosmetic lines available right now. Smashbox Cosmetics offers an array of different products, and also manages to be cruelty free. A self-professed magazine junkie, this quarterly pub has everything my fiendish heart could ask for. They feature it all from sneakers to denim to breath mints and do it without using celebrities, concept shoots or models.

From the 1980s flashy past, the boys at Basso & Brooke are turning heads with their spring collection. Inspired by Adlous Huxley's Brave New World, painter Fiona Rae's ironic brands of abstract expressionism, and Italian designer Ettore Stottass's bold-use graphics Bruno Bassion has not completely abandoned his past of eye-popping prints. The spring collection, however, is much more elegant than expected. From shirtdresses and floor dropping gowns and to trench coats and sportswear the collection was magnificent.

CHRISTOPHER KANE
In case you didn't know, parts of Christoper Kane's collection was stolen from the TopShop/New Generation venue literally days before his Sprint 2008 collection was to be shown!! Somehow, Kane managed to pull of a very incredible show. The concepts behind the show were Stephen King and Crocodile Dundee stories that are reminiscent of fluttery camisoles, snake print chiffon trousers, biker jackets, tiered chiffon cream dresses and tons of ruffles which we all know I personally love. There were plenty of "painted-on" looks in the collection as well as sexy looser silhouettes. The season show was a hit and everyone enjoyed their evening.

JASPER CONRAN
Like his father, the famed furniture/interior designer Sir Terence Conran, Jasper Conran favors clean, modern lines and pared-down elegance. And, this season, he didn't veer far from the family's time-tested formula. The collection included belted silk twill and jersey frocks, kimono tops that fell off the shoulder, voluminous skirts, and chiffon caftans. A smattering of tribal print gowns and caftans and large bronze jewelry played up the safari theme while the rich palette of navy, burnt orange, nutmeg, and khaki had a slight retro 1970s vibe. The looks were sleek, lovely, and above all, highly wearable.

JONATHAN SAUNDERS
After Spring 2008, Jonathan Saunders will bid London adieu and will be showing in New York next season, which may seem like the logical next step for this talented Scottish designer. Already he has had good feedback from the other side of the Atlantic and his clothes seem to get better, more sophisticated, modern, and wearable with each collection. Saunders, who wowed the fashion world with his explosive geometric prints, has become an ambassador of modern sophistication. This time his inspiration was Ettore Sottsass-focused entirely on a clean, sophisticated silhouette, which accentuated curves; and color-blocking, using a much more minimalist palette of black, white, yellow, and turquoise. For night, Saunders proved to be a thoroughly modern contender in the style stakes, showing feminine ruffles on skirts, and long columnar gowns in white and black.

LUELLA
Luella's feel was '50s/'60s/punk-rock nerdy chic; a cute mix of quirky contrasts inspired by Thora Birch in the film Ghost World. Models sported square reading glasses or plastic Batman masks, checkered bags and shoes,pink faux-bangs, and even capes.. The Batman logo appeared and reappeared (on a bomber jacket, as a motif on shirts), while Olive Oyl tea dresses and short prom dresses with netting underneath featured quite heavily. Ultra short skirts and dresses were also decorated with Perspex flowers, and the general thought was that one needs to be a superhero or under 25 to wear those supermini pleated pink skirts worn with the grey cardigans.

On the eve of October 2, 2007, the creators David Ratchford, Charles Bryant, Kylar Gresham, Christian Ragin, Randall Little and Brendan Carnes delivered something re-freshed; a men’s wear line aspiring perfection by way of innovative luxury. These boys have conjured up something fashionably enticing for spring and beyond. Artists such as R&B singer Bobby Valentino and rapper Big Boi from OutKast have dressed in NaVier‘s earlier wears. (Their graphic silk jackets popped in 2006.) A four-pocket sport shirt was the star of Tuesday's showing to say the least with its meticulous attention to craftsmanship and sweet, savour of color. The event took place at Trinity Art Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. Art set a perfect place for a fabulous crowd to mingle, mix and partake in a peep of NaVier‘s 2008 collection, HEIR. Gift bags from Cartier were parting favors. As it is merely the dawning, look forward to the waking of this sleeping giant in the years to come.

Busy bosses have no time for nonsense, so they only want to hire the best and brightest for entry-level assistant positions. Do the six Fashionistas -- Andrew, Bridget, Janjay, Nicole, Rachel and Tina -- have what it takes to survive and succeed? I have become soo obsessed with watching the Fashionista Diaries and I can not wait until the season finale to see who is offered a permanent position. London Fashion Week Spring 2008

Duro Olowu became wide known for his eclectic empire waist dresses made from vintage fabrics. This season he showed a much more accomplished line inspired by the vibrant colors from India. The show opened with a brilliant teal green trouser-suit!! Other suits were shown with trousers and some with pencil skirts. Boy have the famous "Duro dresses" have also evolved. All made with vintage fabrics, the styles of the dresses, including prints and lengths, were gorgeous!

Erdem Moralioglu's show mostly consisted of custom-made taffetas and silks in black and white. You may recognize this designer's name after his 2005 Fashion Fringe winning. From this image you can see that Moralioglu met his goal of wanting "to put things together that didn't go together" with his Spring 2008 collection. Unique pairings such as cropped vests with long black gowns, bauble skirts, pleated numbers, and taffeta biker jackets made the evening interesting. The crowd favorite of the night were the abstract botanical printed evening dresses worn with strapy thongs in yellow and red patent leather! Erdem Moralioglu truly showed the sophisticated side to his surreal vision of fashion.

Congrats to Nicole Farhi, celebrating her 25th anniversary on the runway this week. Known for more comfortable pieces Farhi amazed everyone with her Spring 2008 collection inspired by tribal African prints and colors. This boho chic show gave a true sense of exotic warmth. This year Farhi raised the waist with high skirts and cropped wide pants to bring home that feeling of comfort.

Although there were many empty seats at the Paul Smith show last Tuesday at the Horticultural Halls near Victoria, Mr. Smith turned it out! It is said that many seats were empty due to Isabella Blow's memorial service which was taking place immediately following the show. Nonetheless Paul Smith's spring collection was very memorable with a 'jazzy '20s feel which can best be described as a cross between garden party and private school girl, but with an accentuated eccentricity, evidenced by models wearing Harry Potter-style reading glasses.' A vibrant collection this was. With details ranging from strips, pastels and velvet Smith delivered a charming, wearable collection.

Okay so I was minding my own business doing more sidewalk chalk art for Pistol Whipped Cream when I was rudely approached by a evil woman. Usually when I am doing my chalk art either people ask me what its about or they keep walking. No one has EVER confronted me before! Also, side note: I was in a very liberal part of town: L5P of all places when this happened. With me was my friend Asaya and her 2 kids who are both under the age of 4 and were not standing anywhere near me when this happened. Okay now back to the story. So I'm stooped on the ground with my friend and her kids waiting behind me when this black lady in her late 30's-early 40's who you would think has dreds but she didn't passes by me with her man and then stops and makes the most ignorant comment ever.

I'm writing out our name on the ground. So far I had written P-i-s-t-o-l W-h-i-p-p-e...when she starts yelling at me for writing what she thinks is "Pistol Whipped" on the ground in front of children. I was thinking in my head 'bi*ch are you fu*%in serious!!' but i ignored her because I know I have anger issues. She repeats herself. Seeing that her dumb ass wasn't going anywhere I responded to her that I was not writing what she thought I was. Very defensively she says "well then school me, school me.." and I ignore her once again. At this point my friend realizes that someone is talking to me and she thought I couldn't hear them so she's like "Crystal, someone is talking to you.." and then tells the lady "its Pistol Whipped Cream" referring to what I was writing. I am still silent and finishing up my chalk art. The lady asks her very rudely and with her same attitude "oh, so it's a cream?" My friend says "Crystal, explain to her what it is that you do" and finally I said to my friend "Asaya, I am ignoring her for a reason. I am not answering her because she is being ignorant and I will not entertain that shit!" The lady gets mad and yells out "Oh, so I'm ignorant..[blah, blah, blah]" and something about me wearing a tank top in front of the kids and seriously I stopped listening and she walked off. WTF man!! How was she not ignorant!!?? Was she serious!!??? HELLO DUMB ASS....you just walked up to someone NOT KNOWING what the hell they were doing and stared yelling at them. It's not like she said "Oh, what's that your writing? Pistol Whipped what?" Then I would have explained it to her but she came at me all wrong. I was doing very well to not stand up and bi*ch her out so I think I am happy with how it ended. By the way, the kids #1 can not read and #2 have no clue what I was writing if that was her main concern. Also, tank tops are appropriate in the summer!

Common & Teedra Moses @ Opera tonight!!

If you didn't make it out to the Common and Teedra Moses concert at Opera tonight you missed a great show! I am a big fan of both artists so I had a blast. And if you still don't know who Teedra Moses is you need to google her now and then buy her album! Teedra is not on most peoples radar but hopefully after this concert series she will be. Teedra and Common were excellent. Common is a great artist to see perform and he sweated his ass off tonight..hahaha..This was a free show but I would have paid to see it. If you missed it enjoy my pix. With only 2 people in front of me I was able to get some great pictures to share with you guys. Hope you enjoy!

YES YES YALL...We were some of the first to see what Mr. Knight has been working so diligently on since his exit from Project Runway. There were plenty of Creamers in the building that you know we had to get and the line follows. Hope you enjoy!

Crystal Pistol, Michael Knight, Shoy Sauce

Peep Dawn in all black. This look is classic. The red hat is great addition to this outfit. Without it she may have been missed. We can not stress accent colors enough. Dawn gets it, I hope you do to.

I love Anna in Satin. The various shades of gray work for Anna and she is not washed away in all the gray. The pencil skirt is a fall must have. If you can find one with a high waist then snatch it up because I am sure it will not remain on the racks for long!

Brittini sports this hat well. I actually have a couple of them myself. Try them with dresses and jeans..you will be amazed. And if you are having a bad hair day you can throw one on with your bangs out and no one will ever know...trust me!! I love your hat Brittini and plaid dress.

I am such a huge fan of sailor pants..OMG Karis I am jealous of this outfit. Last year I was cleaning out my closet and found some white sailor pants just like this and they were like a size 4 and that is soo not my size. Price tag still attached I marched into Plato's Closet to make some change off of them. I bought the pants for about 70 bucks at Express and those fools gave me less than 20 for them!! Talk about pissed. I felt like ol girl from Charm School on VH1!!

Krista was actually working the event tonight but she was also working that look. You look cute girl!

Salik fix yo face!! LOL!! Men can still do the blazer and denim look but I would love to see something else. Getting dressed up should not mean putting on a blazer but Salik you look good. If you didn't we wouldn't have stopped ya.

Jason is another guy who gets it. If you must wear the blazer style coat then reinvent it. He reminded me so much of Fonzworth Bentley tonight!

Simple yet effective. Angel has on a basic satin halter and jeans but she pops because of the earrings. Once again, this is how you can spruce up any would be typical outfit. Add some contrasting color and you will see a dramatic difference.

Okay so not everyone I found over the week were on Fashion Ave but they all belong there!

It was hard getting this shot. I must have tried at least 5 times!! I love her business look! She's got on the ruffled neck line white short sleeve blouse with contemporary black slacks accommodated by simple flats..very classic!

I don't know how old she is but I hope to be this fly and fabulous when I reach my 50's. Once again big shades are in!! We love this camisole covered by v neck knit top pairing! The over sized black Chanel leather bag compliments the entire look. Kudos Granny!

I snapped this guy walking outside of the Broadway Theatre after watching "The Color Purple." I love the loud hot top with jeans.

She must have been a fashion student at F.I.T. or Parsons. This picture was taken on Fashion Ave near the colleges. I took this picture several times also but none of them showed her entire outfit! *sad* But I think we all get the idea.

This young lady I had to get. From the hair color to the corky layering of the clothing, this chick has a look that works.

How many times do I have to see people with these Indian boots/moccasins before I jump on board?!! I love love love the shoes whether the owner is butt naked or with clothing on but these daisy dukes really highlight the boots perfectly!

I had to do a super super zoom in to get this chick. I was disappointed to see that there were still issues with the picture..it looks overexposed!! You will have to use your imagination with this one as well. Trust me, the dress was beautifully crafted and flowed and complimented her very well.

Still walking down Lafayette Street I found this guy locking up his bike. The bike I loved, the owner I loved even more!

These fresh kids I met coming out of Clientele...we have Dylan Adams and Harry Dervisevic...boys you already know your fly from the kicks to the tee's and hat..FRESH!

I met Gabriel while working at Triple Five Soul and I loved everything about his look and personality. Next time your in the area stop in Triple Five Soul and tell them Pistol Whipped Cream sent ya!

This lovely lady I found on Lafayette Street near Soho with her boyfriend! I love the baby doll top/dress paired with denim and accented by pink shoes! Now if it were me I probably would have left the jeans off but this is NY..you can't be as daring as you can in Atlanta..I just don't think its safe unless you have a car nearby and tazor gun!

Day 5 in NYC : Flight From HELL

Yesterday i accidently ended up in Brooklyn..today i purposely returned! So I'm looking for Prestigious Fashions so I can peep their sneaker collection for ya'll...I bummed a ride all the way there just to find out that joint was closed!! who closes on Sundays?? I am soo used to the A where if there's money to be made business in open!! Since I was already there you would think I would just hang out right??? NOPE..I was serious when I said my feet were throbbing!! I dunno what happened. I guess I never recovered from that first day so all the rest were just adding pain to injury? As much walking as I do NY and this has never happened to me before! Also, I still have that cold that I started coming down with yesterday!! I can't explain it but I am sooo ready to get back to Atlanta where I have a car and groceries!! Back to Harlem and now I must pack and say my goodbyes before heading to the airport. I arrive at the airport mad early and try to catch up on some work in the terminal. Finally its time to board and it looks like we're leaving early. By the way, the flight sucked. The pilot was from HELL!! The left side of my face was in soo much pain from all the pressure from him dropping the plane too quickly versus gradually and slamming the breaks in mid air..yes he did ya'll and I could feel it all!! What I had was no headache..I was in so much pain and my ear was screaming..I just knew it was bleeding but I kept checking and it wasn't. Finally I asked the flight attendant and her dumb a*$ that it was because we were landing..I was thinking okay..so explain the rest of the flight dummy because I have been feeling like crap since we got in the air!! Oh well, finally I got off the fight and arrived back in Atlanta!! I am so happy to be back home guys!! See ya in the streets.

Day 4 in New York : p.s. those bit*hes @ STUSSY can kiss my a$#

My feet have been throbbing since day 1!! This morning not only did I not want to get up but I damn sho didn't want to catch the subway and do more walking but I couldn't let you guys down eh. Off to the sneaker shops I went. I made it to Clientele (rude staff), Stussy (truly rude staff!!!), Otto Tootsi Plohound, Triple Five Soul (image wise: one of the dopest stores I saw!), Adidas (cool as hell Garage type setting), Brooklyn Industries, Kid Robot, and i think Supreme was closed for business!! Okay now back to people with bad attitudes...I know I'm in NY but damn, does customer service not exist??!! I mean a lot of these stores have franchises in other states where I know you will get fired if you act a fool, example: Atlanta. Now some establishments in Atlanta have ghetto staff but for the most part you have to leave your attitude at the door, especially if you are working for a large company!! Usually stores are excited that someone wants to write about their store...FREE PRESS HELLO!! But you can tell that the people who I encountered not only would NEVER hold a management position but were pure dumb a$$es..sawry..you don't piss off the press!! Retail New Yorkers need some lessons in good customer service and need to be held accountable for their mouths. I first encountered dumb business practices at Clientele. The black guy working the counter knew he was being ridiculous because he wouldn't even give me his name. He was being very annoying, saying all the wrong things and being difficult. If you know I am in your store to write about you store then don't say fuc*ed up sh*t!! He even admitted that they have a lot of bad things written about their store and he didn't understand why. Clientele store workers, if you are wondering why you have bad press then look at yourself and how you conduct your business!! From that I went to Stussy. Couldn't find the store so I called to get some directions. Unfortunately, I got stuck with a moron who doesn't have patience for people who can't find the store. Not only did this dude show his a** but we ended up getting into an argument on the phone which ended with me telling him that he doesn't have to be such a a** hole!! Yes I said it!! No longer did I care about having good customer service and biting my tongue!! After all, none of these a* holes were so I went into survival of the fittest mode. When I found the store, with no help from the staff, I walked inside to NOT be impressed at all by their collection. I am sooo NOT a hater either!! If your shit is hot, I will say so. A hater wouldn't even have still tried to find the store and walk in with intentions on purchasing a hat. I know, I know. Yes I would have bought something if it was dope. I figured there was no reason in punishing the owners for that 1 a**hole I dealt with but a part of me is glad I didn't see anything, they don't deserve my money..(I can go back and forth..devils advoate). Finally I was out of Soho and back to Harlem for the BBQ..it ended up great except for the fact that I think I got sick somewhere along the way. My fam thinks that it's just the NY air but I dunno. With all the construction and stir up of the chemicals in the air from 911 now going on I don't doubt it.

On another note, I will be posting my reviews and pix from the shops soon so keep checking back!!

Day 3 in New York City : Sitting on Jay-Z's toilet

Today is the day that I really got to get out on my own and accomplish a lot! Starting with the takeover of New York City's NOTORIOUS Fashion/Garment District. I visited as many garment and fashion houses as I could including the headquarters of Rocawear!! I know, I know...its kinda a big deal. I got a personal tour of the entire office including design studios and even Mr. Jay-Z's private office on the 2nd floor!! Jay-Z wasn't there but his office was Niiiiccceee!! The view of Manhattan was phenomenal! I'm Jealous! In Jay's office he has a 8x10 picture of his parents on his desk. On other window panes you will find a couple of pictures of him and much younger Beyonce, almost unrecognizable! By the way..this dude has a private bathroom and shower located IN HIS OFFICE!!! I didn't want to leave but I felt so weird being in there in Jay's absence. After that it was off to Soho again for some lunch with a friend and more store interviews! I will be sure to post all of the pix when I return so stay tuned!

Day 2 in New York City : A night on Broadway

I didn't mention previously that a cousin of mine was visiting Harlem at the same time as me!! She is much younger than me so there was only so much we could do together. I showed her as much of Manhattan as I could in 1 day while still accomplishing my PWC duties. We visited Times Square and Soho, particularly: art galleries, FAO Schwartz, sneaker shops, etc..And now for the Grand Finale: The evening was spent watching the Broadway Musical: "The Color Purple"!!!...and a lovely dinner at a local diner.

Day 1 in New York : Shut UP!!!

I have finally arrived to my 2nd home: Harlem, NY. The flight over sucked balls because I was stuck in front of 2 bad kids and their mother who barley spoke English. They screamed the ENTIRE flight and the flight attendant had to keep telling them to be quiet so I was happy when we landed. I am staying with family so they met me at the airport and took me to lunch at the infamous Dallas BBQ's. I love that place soo much. The food is cheap and the portions are large! I even took at bottle of their sauce to go on the way out. Next stop, time to unload my luggage. I spent my evening in Harlem tagging the city..all you Pistol Whipped Creamers you know who you are!

No, actually it’s the embodiment of hipster NY crafted by Greg Krelenstein (26), Leigh Lezark (23), and Geordon Nicol (23), together known as the MisShapes.

This trio has managed to hypnotize fashion designers, club kids, and trend-loving stylists since their beginning in Feb’04, when they rocked their first Manhattan Saturday night party.

With a strong following of weekly party-goers this venue has become an intersection of music, art, and fashion. With their music hosting a range of events carried on by institutions like the Whitney Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art to fashion world powerhouses like Chanel, Versace, and Calvin Klein.

Makes since that they would assemble a collection of portraits as a document of their unique world, and they have with the coming of the MisShapes coffee table book.

The portraits, edited by MisShapes member Geordon Nicol, include cutting edge musicians, celebrities, artists, and designers, some from different generations, alongside the youth of down town New York. The "Almost" Perfect Shoe

When I saw this cute little black wedge shoe in Nine West I froze with excitement and stood in place drooling like a little kid in the candy store. Anxious to try on the shoe, I quickly took of my banana Miss Sixty flats and sat calmly. When my size 8.5 finally came from the stock room, I unpackaged the contents of the shoe box as if it were Christmas Day and gazed at this rare shinny black shoe in awe. Now here was the test, how will it look on my foot. I usually have good luck with the fit of a shoe but I was still leary to see the results of my find! As I finally tried on the shoe I quickly realized that the shoe was cut rather close to the toes and my foot was showing too much toe crack!!! UGGHH!! I was so displeased with this result. I walked around the store with the shoes on, not yet ready to see them go. Finally, reality sunk in and I had to face with the fact that the shoes could not be mine but that doesn't mean you can't be fly. One of the best dressed that night! She doesnt have on red, black, or white thank GOD!! Good color choice mami! We love the way it warms your skin.
